Finance-related events at the Global Alumni Weekend

Dear member,

As you know, the Global Alumni Weekend (GAW) is the event for all IE Alumni to reunite with the people, places and things that changed their lives. This year, the event will be held from June 8th to the 10th, 2018 at our IE Campus in Madrid. The event will be attended by alumni from all IE schools or university and is an ideal platform for current students to develop their alumni relations. They will also be joined by the deans and vice-deans from our 5 schools, as well as our EPIC alumni and other alumni with amazing stories to share. Here is the complete agenda.

We believe club members will be particularly interested in one session, featuring IE professor and alumnus Luis Maldonado, Digital Financial Sector Specialist at the IFC-World Bank, so we are sharing specific details:



The event will also be attended by the EPIC award nominees. For those of you who don't know, our EPIC Awards aim to showcase inspiring alumni stories around the world. Interaction with the EPICs could be of great interested to members of the Finance Club. Here is the snapshot of two EPICs who would be attending the event:
 
ARJUN MALLIK
CEO of Prudential Uganda
 
Arjun Mallik is CEO of the Prudential Uganda insurance company. A position he reached, despite his youth, after acquiring considerable experience in the markets of Malaysia, the UK, the US and Africa. With a degree in Economics from Eckerd College and an International MBA from IE, Mallik occupied his current position after working as Head of Strategy for Prudential Africa, helping their expansion across the continent while supporting growth in existing markets. Founded in London in 1848, Prudential is one of the oldest and best-known insurers in the world, offering services to some 24 million clients in the UK, the United States, Asia and Africa and manages over USD 900 billion in assets.
 
PAUL MURPHY
Partner at Northzone
 
For several months now Paul has been a Partner at Northzone, one of Europe’s leading venture capital firms, which he reached thanks to a brilliant and intense career developing outstanding digital companies such as Giphy and Aviary, among others. With a degree in Computer Engineering from Virginia Tech and an MBA from IE in Madrid, Murphy has morphed into an investor, after his notable success as Co-founder and Executive Director of Dots, a mobile game studio with over 100 million players around the world.
